Truck driver hijacked

A truck driver was hijacked after his vehicle was tampered with.

The hijacking took place on Thursday night at roughly 20:30 on the N11.

It is believed that the driver stopped at a filling station to buy food, during which his Mercedes truck was possibly tampered with.

After leaving the filling station, his truck started experiencing mechanical issues forcing him to stop when he was ambushed by an armed suspect, later joined by two others driving a Toyota bakkie.

He was bound and forced back into his truck while the hijackers then worked on the truck to get it started and drove off with him.

The driver was later left along the road after hijackers covered his head.
