Warning: Tornado sightings around Middelburg
Several reports of tornado sightings have emerged around Middelburg.
Multiple sightings of tornados have taken place over the past hour, with reports coming in from the N4, along the Stoffberg road and near Rockdale.
N4 Sightings
The above picture was taken by Harm du Plessis, who was travelling on the N4, when he spotted a tornado between Alzu Petroport and Middelburg.
He said he witnessed this particular tornado disperse, and then continued to make his way home.
The Middelburg Observer spoke to Harm’s wife Alicia Whitting, who also spotted a large black cloud at Dullstroom while she was travelling back to Middelburg.
“I was driving on my motorcycle back to Middelburg, when I noticed this ominous large black cloud. It looked like it had fingers.”
Alicia continued, “I knew that it spelt bad news and that I had to get off the road as soon as I could. But I was surprised when my husband sent me the photo of what he saw on the N4.”

Stoffberg Road Sighting
A voice note was posted on the Traffic Alert WhatsApp group at 17:31 that confirmed a tornado sighting on the Stoffberg Road.
Louwtjie Swart urged that all first responders remain safe as they deal with the potentially threatening conditions.
