WATCH: Back to back queue at muni ahead of power box software deadline

Hundreds of overdue pre-paid electricity box owners are queuing at the municipality for assistance to get their boxes software compliant.

Consumers has had well over a year to ensure that their boxes are upgraded by simply punching in the two software update codes to make their boxes software compliant.

The codes only need to be fed into the box once for the upgrade to take effect.

Consumers will have received the codes upon request from vendors, with the codes printed on a slip.
Boxes that are non-compliant will no longer work after Sunday.

While instructions were clearly communicated, confusion has now set in with fabrication makes now being mentioned, which added to the confusion at the municipality today.

Residents are unclear as to what make of box they have.
