In pictures: Great return for the Greatest Train Race!

Middelburg was buzzing as runners from across the country took part in the Greatest Train Race today.

Over 1000 athletes participated in different races, namely; the 21km starting at Pan Station, the 10km, as well as the 5km fun run.

In the Men’s 25km, Mandla Nkabinde took the honours. Meanwhile, in the 25km run, Fransune Du Toit won the ladies title.

Fransune’s festive mood didn’t just end with her victory, her mother, Fransie Du Toit was also victorious.

Du Toit senior secured the 10km title in the 50+ category, capping off a truly trailblazing performance from the Du Toit duo.

The excited mother and daughter also celebrated with Fransune’s former coach, Dess Jelliman.

Dess Jelliman, won the 60+ Men’s category.

Jelliman won the 60+ Men’s category. The former coach showed everyone that he’s still got it, however, he was clearly elated to see his former athlete put to good use the lessons he taught.
