(Video) Swift police work: stolen bakkie found in an hour

The Middelburg police retrieved a stolen bakkie in Mhluzi an hour after the incident occurred, earlier today.

The robbery occurred at around 11:00 at the back of Fashion World in the CBD on OR Tambo Street.

According to information, the driver of the vehicle was delivering items at the store when he and a Fashion World employee were approached by a man with a gun, who demanded they walk into the lay-by room.

The owner of Fashion World was also instructed to go inside the lay-by room and the thief locked the door.

Two suspects then stole the bakkie, which was full of merchandise.

The police were promptly alerted about the incident, and nearly an hour later, the abandoned vehicle was found in Mathaileng, Mhluzi, near the old Mhluzi cemetery.

The stock in the back of the bakkie was still inside the vehicle; however, a few boxes were found open and some items were missing.

The driver’s two cellphones and the Fashion World employee’s cellphone were also stolen.

• CCTV footage shows two men driving away from the clothing store after the robbery. They are both still at large.
