An Aloe Ridge man is currently under police guard in the hospital after he allegedly attempted to kill his wife.

The police rushed to the estate complex last night after gunshots were heard.

According to information, the incident happened at about 21:20.

It is not clear why the man allegedly shot his wife.

The Middelburg Observer knows the suspect’s identity; however, it cannot be revealed until the suspect appears in court.

Shortly after the incident, he reportedly drove to Rondebosch before heading to Sam Rose, where he allegedly shot himself in the chest.

His wife was transported to the hospital by a neighbour. The husband was found at Sam Rose and transported to Life Midmed Hospital.

• At the time of publication, the man was being kept under police guard and has not yet been formally charged with attempted murder.
