Municipality urges motorists to exercise caution due to heavy rainfall during Festive Season
Motorists must be cautious for potholes in town after the heavy rainfall the past few weeks.
The Municipality urges all motorists to exercise extreme caution on municipal roads following the recent heavy rainfall during the Festive Season. Most of the roads were damaged.
The Civil Engineering Department will attend to all the affected roads and maintenance of the roads. While proactive maintenance such as storm water drainage cleaning, clearing of low-lying bridges continues to take place to avoid safety hazards during the rainy season.
People are advised to avoid illegal dumping because it causes storm drainage blockages. Resident are advised to take waste on scheduled collection days from 06:00. Dispose waste only in bins and at approved drop-offs or landfill sites.
If you have tenants or have more waste, buy additional waste bins from the Municipality.
Fence off your property to prevent others from dumping on it. Make others aware of the importance of keeping our environment clean and litter free.
Safety tips during the rainy period:
- Do not attempt to drive through flooded areas, even if the water looks shallow enough to cross.
