WATCH: Flooding on R35 to Bethal

Motorists have been warned about flooding on the R35 between Middelburg and Bethal.

According to footage circulating on social media, the bridge on the R35 to Bethal shortly after Komati Power Station is flooded.

While trucks can be seen passing over the bridge, motorists are advised to exercise caution.

The bridge is located 42.2km north of Bethal.

Heavy rainfall also resulted in localised flooding in Middelburg and surrounding areas yesterday.

While rising water levels flooded road surfaces in low-lying areas, including Eastdene and the Middelburg Mall, access to the low-water bridge in Koppie Street has also been cordoned off.

Reports confirm that a sluice was opened at Witbank Dam, but Middelburg Dam’s sluice gates remain closed for now.
