Local hero guards over dying man on N4 after hit-and-run
Man's injuries simply too severe to survive

Louwtjie Swart of Van Wettens Towing Services sat next to a dying man on the N4 around 02:45 this morning, after the victim was gravely injured during a hit-and-run incident shortly after 02:00.
The following information around the incident was shared on the local Traffic Alert group:
According to Swart, one of his fellow drivers came across the injured man in the road, and immediately dispatched emergency services.
Swart rushed to the scene while the driver of the white vehicle that allegedly struck the man was said to have arrived at the police station to report the incident.
On his way to the scene, Swart warned his colleague to be vigilant as alerts of four robbers active in the area was circulated.
Upon his arrival, Swart requested an estimated time of arrival for the ambulance.
Moments later, in an updated message, Swart then requested for the police and forensic services to be dispatched, after the man succumbed to his injuries in front of Swart.
It’s unclear whether the driver of the vehicle was fleeing from robbers at the time of the incident.
