Second hijacking attempt thwarted on N11 where man was shot in leg yesterday
Hijackers active on N11 between Middelburg and Limpopo
A brave motorist saved a local woman from a violent hijacking by allowing her to drive in front of him, to buffer her from the hijackers on her tail.
The incident happened earlier today on the N11 where a victim was hijacked of his vehicle and shot in the leg yesterday around 10:00.
Annalie Landman shared her ordeal on various WhatsApp safety groups, warning motorists to be vigilant on the Loskop Dam road.
She left Middelburg for Kranspoort when she drove past a black Jeep parked at a fruit stall close to Doornkop, thinking the vehicle was parked there to buy fruit.
But as soon as she passed the Jeep, the driver started tailgating her, and attempted numerous times to push her off the road.
Landman says she stayed calm and stuck to driving in the middle of the road, to keep her options open in case the Jeep tried to strike her vehicle.
Close to the pass Landman was met with a silver VW Polo and white Mercedes that tried to box her in between them and the Jeep.
A man in an orange Wrangler realized Landman was in trouble and allowed her to pass to his front, where he stayed behind her, while break-checking the Jeep on her tail.
Landman then floored it to Kranspoort, reliving how she flew over the Kranspoort speed humps to safety.
She thanked the man for the intervention, despite not knowing who the motorist is.
She expressed a desire to thank he man in person, if the opportunity presented itself.
Police were also notified of the incident, and have since kicked into gear to avert further incidents.
The SAPS have asked anyone with information to speak up.
The hijackers are armed, and are working in unison with multiple vehicles.
None of the vehicles have registration plates.
