Man suffers stroke after allegedly shooting wife

Shortly after his arrest, he suffered a stroke and was taken to hospital for treatment.

An Aerorand man and his wife are in the hospital following an alleged domestic violence incident on Tuesday evening.

According to the police reports, the incident happened at around 20:15 in Pienaariver Street.

The complainant told the police that she went out to celebrate with her friends at a restaurant.

When she arrived home at around 20:15, she went to her bedroom only to find that the door was locked, with her husband inside.

She reportedly went to the spare bedroom to put down her bags before going into the bathroom, where she received a phone call from her friend telling her that she had arrived home safely.

She said her husband abruptly entered the spare room, grabbed the cellphone from her, hit her in the face, and broke the phone.

He allegedly went to the other side of the room, and as the wife was walking out of the room, she heard a gunshot and fell to the ground.

She noticed her left thigh was bleeding and asked her husband why he shot her, but he allegedly didn’t respond to her.

She then called her neighbours for assistance and was taken to the hospital.

The man reportedly drove to Hlalamnandi after the shooting to pick up his son before going to the hospital.

He was allegedly arrested at the hospital when he went to check up on his wife while she was being questioned by the police. The husband’s gun was booked into the SAPS13.

Shortly after his arrest, he suffered a stroke and was taken to hospital for treatment.

He is currently under police guard and faces charges of attempted murder.

• The identity of the accused is known to the Middelburg Observer, however, he cannot be formally identified until he appears in court.

• Less than three months ago, an Aloe Ridge man was also arrested for attempted murder after he allegedly shot his wife in the pelvic area.

On December 17, the police rushed to the Aloe Ridge complex after gunshots were heard.

Sifiso Dlamini allegedly shot his wife, and a neighbour transported the injured woman to the hospital.

Attempted murder accused Sifiso Dlamini.

Afterwards, Dlamini reportedly drove to Rondebosch and then to Sam Rose, where he is alleged to have shot himself in the chest.

He also received medical treatment in hospital.
