Mutilated body of man found close to busy Middelburg crossing
Aggressive dog found circling body

The mutilated body of a man was found in a field close to the corner of Walter Sisulu and Protea Street.
The deceased had multiple open wounds to his legs, exposing bone.
The body was discovered around 13:30 today.
Police found an aggressive dog on the scene and the SPCA had to be called.
Police suspect he may have been mauled to death, after also having been injured in an earlier accident.
Bite marks were visible on the legs around gaping wounds, where chunks of flesh were missing.
The victim was neatly dressed in blue shorts and a striped shirt.
He was wearing black ankle high sneakers.
He also had visible injuries to the face and head.
The victim was found with a long stick on his chest.
Up to three dogs may have been involved in the attack.
According to a reliable source the man was involved in a road accident with a Bantam bakkie around 05:00 the morning.
Police and emergency services were called to the scene and the victim was taken to hospital, where he received stitches to his head.
It is suspected that he left the hospital and walked back to where the body was discovered.
A post morten exam will determine the exact cause of death.
