Steelcrest High School’s rugby teams delivered passionate performances during the Virseker Noordvaal Cup Group 4 semi-finals, securing two places in the upcoming finals following a series of hard-fought encounters on August 8.

Despite narrow losses in the junior divisions, Steelcrest players dominated individual accolades, sweeping the Man of the Match awards across all four fixtures.

In a high-scoring first team clash on home soil, Steelcrest defeated Hoërskool Eric Louw 39–33 in Limpopo to book its spot in the final.

Steelcrest’s Bophelo Moshou was named Man of the Match for his decisive performance on the field, guiding his team through a tense contest.

The Steelcrest U16 side joined the senior team in the championship decider following a disciplined 18–8 defensive victory over Hoërskool Warmbad away in Limpopo.

Steelcrest’s Siyanda Phakathi earned Man of the Match honours for his pivotal role in steering the side to victory.

Steelcrest’s junior teams faced agonisingly close exits despite standout individual efforts.

The U14 team fell 15–17 to Warmbad in a tightly contested fixture in Limpopo, where Steelcrest player Izanokuhle Sanele was awarded Man of the Match for his unrelenting work rate.

The U15 side delivered a brave performance in a 12–17 loss against Reddam House Bedfordview at Steelcrest High School’s A field, with Steelcrest’s Kamogelo Mashaba taking home the Man of the Match accolade.

Steelcrest High School commended the players and coaching staff across all age groups for their grit and sportsmanship, reaffirming the institution’s motto: ‘Fortune Favours the Bold!’

The finals of the Virseker Noordvaal Cup will be hosted at Steelcrest High School on August 15.
