WATCH: Hoërskool Middelburg hockey teams hilariously serenade Kurt Darren

Before departing for home, these Middies saw the opportunity of a lifetime arise at the East London King Phalo Airport.

After a successful hockey tour down in the Eastern Cape, the last thing you would expect of the Hoërskool Middelburg boys’ and girls’ first teams would be a public performance, but when you see Kurt Darren, the music just pours out.

Sitting across from the two hockey teams was none other than the iconic South African singer and songwriter Kurt Darren.

Now, one may think that these learners may have gone up to the celeb to ask for an autograph or even a picture, but they had something grander in mind.

Belting out the lyrics from one of his latest tunes, ‘Hop Hop Spinnekop’, they honoured Darren with a rendition that while not pitch perfect, had a lot of spunk to it.

Darren would go on to thank the teams for the show, posting a video to TikTok from his perspective with the caption, “Even at the airport, my life is never boring. Mooi so MHS hokkiespanne!”
