Totius Street partially washed away

Gholfsig residents have been warned about damages to Totius Street inflicted by the widescale flooding.

DA Ward Councillor, Elsie Vermooten is urging residents to drive cautiously on Totius Street, after more than a metre-and-a-half of the ground under the tar surface has eroded.

Electrical cables have also been left exposed, as well as the paving being unstable and damaged.

According to Clr. Vermooten, the section of Totius Street that has been damaged is in the little dip between Cowen Ntuli and Eeufees streets, where the stream connects between Roberts Estate and the golf course.

“The washed away section of road is on the opposite side of Roberts Estate’s wildlife garden.”

Clr. Vermooten has reported the situation at Totius Street to the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality, and has placed a cone on the damaged road section to warn motorists.

“The damaged section of road is very unsafe, and motorists must please drive cautiously.”
