(Video) Alleged vandal caught stealing copper from mini substation

They swiftly apprehended one of the suspects, but the other fled the scene.

A man was caught red-handed stealing copper cables from a municipal mini substation.

The man was caught on John Magagula Street at around 04:50 by GSC Armed Response, who handed the suspect to municipal guards G85 Security.

GSC were patrolling the area when they saw two men tampering with the substation.

A man was apprehended by security guards after he was found tampering with municipal infrastructure. He allegedly stole copper cables from a mini substation.. This caused a blackout for nine houses on John Magagula Street today (April 1, 2025).

They swiftly apprehended one of the suspects, but the other fled the scene.

At least nine houses on John Magagula Street are without power due to several copper cables being cut.

The accused was arrested by patrolling officers. His face is blurred because he has not appeared in court yet.

The guards are currently waiting for the police to arrest the man.

• On March 10, vandals stripped a mini substation at 51 John Magagula Street. At least seven houses in the street were also without power for hours.
