R5 000 reward: Pretoria company ‘urgently’ searching for ‘valuable’ container stolen in Hendrina
A R5 000 reward will be given if the container and its contents are returned, no questions asked.
A container carrying valuable construction material with an estimated value of R150 000 was stolen in Hendrina’s Extension 4 last Thursday, with the Pretoria-based company, 1st Horizon Property Development, desperate to reclaim their belongings.
The company was developing an affordable residential housing project in the area, with the contents of the container including the following: Honda generators, concrete rammers, industrial grinders, baby grinders, shovels, a pallet of cement, plumbing and electrical fittings, and various other construction materials.
The container itself is green in colour with Evergreen written on its side, with the visible serial number EMCU355107722G1.
A security guard stationed at the location acted as a first-hand witness to the event.
He claimed that he thought the container was scheduled to be taken off-site, and thus did not act when people driving an ‘Isuzu truck with a baby blue cab, with a weathered red crane on top, and a scratched white bin at the back’ took the container.
The Middelburg Observer spoke to Fritz Scholtz of 1st Horizon, who stated that the company contacted the police about the matter.
However, the company claims that the police have closed the case and will only reopen it once more evidence is found.
Scholtz stated that 1st Horizon is currently investigating CCTV footage of the incident and is asking the public to share any information they have about the whereabouts of the container or its contents.
A R5 000 reward will be given if the container and its contents are returned, no questions asked.
If you have any information about the container, contact Scholtz on 061 425 0934.
