High traffic due to closure of Meyer Street

Almost everybody was late for work and school drop-offs this morning, as Lilian Ngoyi Street, Protea Street, and Dr Beyers Naude Street experienced high volumes of traffic this morning.

This comes after a part of Meyer Street was closed due to a big pothole, which has also been called a sinkhole, near the Meyer’s Bridge.

Traffic officers have also closed the Protea Street intersection and both directions of Brug Street.

Traffic officials helped during the morning rush.

Motorists are urged to avoid Koppie Street near Kees Taljaard Sports Complex, as the low-water bridge has suffered serious damage, and the road has been barricaded.
