Quick work by private security results in recovery of stolen goods

The quick work by members of community policing and private security resulted in the recovery of goods stolen in a break-in in Gholfsig.

According to Herculaas Taljaard from Middelburg CPF Sector 1, a resident called for help on the Zello group at 04:00 after awaking to suspects breaking into their garage in Gholfsig.

Reaction officers from Mid Alarms, Hawks Security and the CPF Sector 1 all responded to the scene, but by the time of their arrival, the thieves had fled into the field opposite the victim’s house.

Taljaard explained that the resident woke up to the sound of the thieves forcing open the garage door. They gained access by jumping over the wall, forcing open the gate motor to switch the gate to manual, and then pushed the gate open.

They then broke open the garage door and once inside, opened the second one to allow their escape after stealing two 9kg gas bottles, a generator, as well as a backpack full of tools.

Responders searched the field for the suspects who managed to evade capture, but the stolen goods were successfully recovered.
