Memorial for Middelburg couple killed in plane crash

A memorial service will be held on Saturday for a couple from Middelburg who were killed in a plane crash last weekend.

Quentin and Lezette Steyn both died upon impact after the Rans S-10 Sakota aircraft they were flying in crashed into the ground on the Middelburg Airfield last Sunday afternoon.

A memorial for the late couple will be held on May 24 at 11:00 at the Corpus Christi Church in Aerorand, Middelburg.

According to the Middelburg Observer’s previous coverage, the accident occurred after Quentin took friends and family for leisure rides on Sunday afternoon.
The fun-filled day took a tragic turn when Quentin took his wife for a final ride for the day.

While the South African Civil Aviation Authority is still investigating the crash, sources suggest the aircraft’s wing grazed the ground, resulting in the plane crashing and setting alight.

The couple’s two daughters, Dominique (15) and Mila (9), witnessed the crash.

A full tribute to the Steyn couple can be read on this week’s front page of the Middelburg Observer.
