Man’s body found in water, DNA must determine if it is Meluleki

A grim discovery near Belfast has added to a growing list of missing persons cases in the region.

The body of a man was found by children at Old Madala Informal Settlement, next to Belfast, at around 14:00 last Friday.

The body could possibly be Meluleki Ndumiso Ncongwane (23), who went missing on April 26. He disappeared at around 22:00 between Stoffberg and Belfast Fourways.

According to the information, the body, which was heavily decomposed, was found in water, close to a wetland. A post-mortem examination was conducted this week. Furthermore DNA tests will be conducted to identify if the body is that of Meluleki.

• This tragic discovery comes after Khulekani Nkambule (23) from Hendrina, who went missing on May 23, was found dead next to a dam in Kriel.

• Johannes Sibanyoni’s (45) body was found in a stream in Kwazamokuhle on June 2, after he went missing on May 25.
Although the police say that Johannes drowned, his family believes he was murdered.

• Another desperate search is underway for Nqobani Madondo (34) from Aerorand, who has been missing since June 17.
At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing black jeans and a black jacket.
Anyone with information that could assist in locating Nqobani is urged to contact Vusi Biyela on 072 461 1280.

• Thabisile Thabethe (36) is also still missing and was last seen on May 30 at a bar in Blinkpan.
She disappeared after heading home. She lives on Welverdiend farm, which is a 6km walk from the bar where she was last seen.
Since then, the Blinkpan SAPS and community members have been trying to locate her. There has been no sighting of her since her disappearance.
An investigation into her disappearance is ongoing.
