WATCH: Kranspoort Pass open despite serious accident between trucks

Certain lanes of Kranspoort Pass are open for early morning travelers commuting between Middelburg and Groblersdal.

A serious impact has been left on the environment, with Hazmat teams actively working to clean-up the chemical spill in Kranspoort Pass on the N11, where two trucks collided resulting in one catching fire.

According to first responders, the wreckages of both trucks still remain in the pass, and the chemical cargo that spilled and ran down the embankments of the pass also remains to be cleaned.

Two lanes are open, but a motorist warned that traffic flow is not being regulated leaving vehicles coming from both directions to weave between lanes.

The chemicals that caught fire last night resulted in noxious fumes filling the pass, as well as a secondary veldfire.

Video footage obtained shows how the chemical fire spreads through the veld in the pass. The video was taken last night.
