Body of woman in Cowen Ntuli Street shocks early morning Gholfsig commuters

Not a great start to women's month...

Gholfsig residents awoke to a grim scene this morning with a body of a woman lying lifeless in the road heading to town on Cowen Ntuli Street.

Police have locked down the scene while awaiting ambulance services to determine whether the woman is dead.

Police told the Middelburg Observer on the scene that a scan of the scene indicates that the woman may have been stabbed.

They could, however, not positively confirm a stabbing at this time.

Asked whether the lady is in fact deceased, police told the Middelburg observer ‘there’s no movement, no signs of life’

Two shopping bags were observed close to the body.

The victim was found face down on her stomach next to the pavement in the Cowen Ntuli Sreet bend heading into town.

Many motorists have passed, including school kids on their way to school.

At this stage it’s unknown whether it has been a possible robbery gone wrong.

The body is fully clothed, and there doesn’t seem to have been a sexual motive behind the senseless attack at this time.
