Response officers find more illegal structures

Homeless people move into Kees Taljaard sports complex.

Reaction officers from Titon Security came across several illegal structures across town on Friday night.

Following reports in the Middelburg Observer about people living in cement pipes opposite Nasaret, Titon owner Tonie Etsebeth said on Saturday morning that his response officers had come across several homeless people sleeping on the street or along walls during the night.

There are bush sleepers in the veld along Slegtkamp Street, not far from the road. The homeless have put up a tent between trees.

On the corner of OR Tambo- and Koppie Streets, board partitions have been erected.

People who have moved in opposite Rivierpark and the SAVF Old Age Home are worrying.

In addition to the many people living along the Klein Olifants River, some homeless people have moved in at the Kees Taljaard Stadium.

Residents complain especially about the garbage under the bridge near the fire station and also the Meyer Street bridge.

Middelburg has become a haven for vagrants who sleep wherever they find a hole, and who are quite innovative when it comes to building shelters for the night.
