The owner, who wishes to remain anonymous for his safety, said he was in town when the robbery occurred, and his younger brother was running the store at the time.
Three robbers, with a fourth waiting outside, allegedly pretended to be customers when they entered the tuck shop, with one of the robbers taking a drink from the fridge and asking for a price, as if he was going to buy it.
While trying to fight off one of the robbers, the brother was allegedly assaulted with a gun, which looked like a 9mm, on his head and face.
According to the owner, the robbers used a white Nissan bakkie as their getaway vehicle and made off with money, cigarettes, maize meal, and hookahs.
• The shop owner said his brother sustained injuries and is currently recovering at home.
