Relocation from old Middelburg Hospital to King Nyabela Hospital is complete
King Nyabela is now fully operational and families are encouraged to visit their loved ones at the new facility.
The new King Nyabela Hospital is now fully functional following the recent completion of the relocation process from the old Middelburg Hospital. The move began on October 30, and by November 19, all services had been successfully transferred to the new facility.
The Mpumalanga Department of Health issued a press release confirming that all services previously offered at the old Middelburg Hospital are now available at King Nyabela Hospital. All patients admitted to the old hospital have also been transferred, and families and relatives are encouraged to visit their loved ones at the new location.
The MEC for Health, Sasekani Manzini, visited King Nyabela Hospital last Thursday to observe the progress and outcomes of the migration from the old to the new facility.
The MEC indicated that she was generally pleased that the community had already begun using the new hospital as the department prepares for its official opening, and she also apologised for any inconvenience that arose from the inevitable transition.
“We are happy that the transition unfolded accordingly and in line with what was expected of it. As the department, we made it our commitment to engage management, staff, and organised labour to ensure a smooth and safe move for both the patients and workers,” said Manzini.
The visiting times at the facility are as follows:
• 10:00 to 10:30 and 15:00 to 16:00.
• Community members are advised that evening visits have been suspended until further notice.
