WATCH: Where are the officials, the mayor, the head of parks, and the councillor?

The cemetery’s decay cannot be allowed.

There was a time when residents of other towns buried their loved ones in Middelburg.

The reason was the town’s neat and clean cemetery.

How has that changed?

Not only is the children’s cemetery overgrown, but the rest of the terrain is in a scandalous state.

The question is, how did Middelburg change from a model town to a dilapidated town?

The Middelburg Observer visited the cemetery a few months ago.

@middelburgobserver

The Middelburg cemetery has never looked as bad before, and over teh past two financial years, seasonal workers were employed by the municipality much later than usual. And with the holidays strating in earnest next week, even less will be done to get Middelburg tidy and neat.

It was 09:30 when a group of workers were unloaded from a bus.

We were told that they were going to eat first.

The parks department said that there is only one machine and no brush cutter, which is why the cemetery looks like it does.

Disgraceful!

The cemetery has not been cleaned for months.

Where are the officials responsible for this, the supervisors, the head of parks, the mayor, and the councillor?

Please, our residents pay for services, at least keep the final resting place of our loved ones clean.
