• On March 7, the infamous Nqubeko Mchunu case was back in court for closing arguments. Mchunu was on trial for the 2022 shootings that occurred at the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality during a strike. Tshepo Maseko was shot and killed by Mchunu, while he left others with injuries.
The court was filled to the brink with supporters for Maseko and the other victims.

• We also saw Middelburg’s undisputed boxing champ Bonginkosi Nhlapho give his all in a hard-fought battle against Michael Head at Emperors Palace. Although the results were disappointing, Nhlapho gave a performance that proved he has what it takes to compete at the highest level of boxing in the country.

• On March 28, Mhluzi turned into a warzone when Siyabonga Mofokeng (23) was brutally murdered in Tokologo, leaving his family traumatised. According to the Mofokeng family, three armed attackers arrived in a white VW Polo and opened fire inside the house, shooting in multiple rooms. During this terror, some of the family members were having dinner. The shooting was suspected to be a hit on Mduduzi Ernest Msibi.
