N4 Reopens after 7 fatalities in head-on crash
The N4 has reopened to traffic after a fatal head-on collision claimed seven lives between Belfast and Machadodorp. Authorities urge motorists to proceed with caution.
The N4 toll road has been reopened following a deadly head-on collision that occurred late on Friday night (last night, at 23:30) between Belfast and Machadodorp, on the Dalmanutha / Winnaarspoort section of the route.
According to traffic updates from services on scene, the crash site between Dalmanutha and Winnaarspoort (N4, km 42.6E) has been cleared, and traffic is now flowing again through the area in Emakhazeni.
The collision, involving two sedans – an Audi and a Honda – claimed the lives of seven people, six men and one woman. One additional occupant sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

Emergency and recovery operations continued for several hours before the road was reopened.
Motorists are urged to remain vigilant, reduce speed, and obey traffic officials while travelling through the area, as investigations into the cause of the crash continue.
This follows a series of fatal accidents on Mpumalanga roads during the festive season, once again highlighting the dangers of reckless driving.
