Residents advised to use water sparingly

Authorities are calling for responsible water use as levels at Middelburg Dam show a noticeable decline, despite reservoirs across the province remaining full.

Residents of Middelburg are urged to use water wisely after a recent drop in the water levels in the Middelburg Dam.

According to the recent weekly State of Reservoirs report released by the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) on February 23, the dams in the province remain at 100% capacity.
While the dam levels across Mpumalanga remain high, the Middelburg Dam dropped from 101.5% to 98.3%.

Loskop Dam, on the other hand, recorded a moderate increase from 100.3% to 100.4%, remaining in the 100% water mark.

The DWS encourages the public to use water sparingly and to prioritise water conservation, reminding the public that South Africa is a water-scarce country.
They also urge the public to safeguard water and sanitation infrastructure, fix all water leaks, and report burst pipes to authorities for a prompt response to prevent unnecessary loss of water, because every drop counts.
