Championing community skills development in Middelburg

A partnership between Mafube Coal Mine, Afgri Retail and National Skills is empowering 20 Middelburg students with practical training and accredited qualifications, aimed at tackling unemployment through education and skills development.

Mafube Coal Mine and Afgri Retail, in partnership with National Skills, are championing community skills development in Middelburg. Their initiative aims to combat unemployment and poverty through education, with a focus on equipping students with practical skills and workplace experience.

The Mafube Coal Mine Community Scholarships have sponsored 20 students in various fields, including agriculture, engineering, supply chain management, and health and safety.

Afgri Retail Middelburg is providing hands-on training and internship opportunities, paving the way for SETA and QCTO-accredited qualifications.

National Skills, an accredited training provider with QCTO, DHET, and SETA, has implemented theoretical training and knowledge modules.

“We would like to thank Afgri and Mafube Coal for changing and impacting lives through education,” says National Skills. As Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
