Jogging, hotrods, rugby, and chess

Middelburg will be a hive of activity this weekend.

Hotrods, rugby, chess, and a marathon.

Middelburg is gearing up for a busy sports weekend.

The big event is, of course, the Loskop Marathon, with the 50km race starting in Middelburg, the half marathon in the Loskop Nature Reserve, the 10km starting in the Forever resort, and a fun run, all taking place on Saturday morning.

But it’s not just jogging and running this weekend.

The Middelburg Rugby Club will play a home game against Piet Retief, and a hotrod club competition is being held at the Rietkuil track, with the gates opening at 11:00, also on Saturday.

And if you are not out of breath after all the jogging, racing, or rugby, the Mpumalanga Chess Open Championships are being held at the Middelburg Country Club on Saturday and Sunday.

There’s something for everyone this weekend – whether you’re competing or cheering from the sidelines, get involved, get active, and have some fun!
