WATCH: No bikini girl on this boat

Smoke and stench waft towards houses a few kilometres away.

Lyrics to the song ‘Boat on the water’.

I got a boat on the water and some beer on ice,
With a long-legged beauty tannin’ up real nice.

Sprawled out on the bow in that bikini I bought her,
Got a sunshine girl and a boat on the water…

Middelburg’s boat is not on the water.

There isn’t a pretty girl in a bikini either.

This boat stands alone next to a landfill.

It looks like something out of a surrealistic film.

Piles and piles of rubbish.

Smoke rises everywhere.

Stinking smoke.

The boat stands amidst all the rubbish.

A boat 40km from Loskop Dam.

Gaar gery’.

Barely 4km away is Dennesig.

Residents are choking on the smoke.

It was even claimed this week that the stench was caused by a veld fire.

The rubber smell hanging in the air has given rise to stories that water pipes have burned and are the cause of Dennesig’s low water pressure.

The illegal landfill is massive.

Residents fed up with the problems at the Dennesig landfill drive just 2km away and dump their rubbish in the field.

Councillor Johann Dyason said he was aware of the landfill.
