Flooding returns to Middelburg Care Village after pipeline bursts

A suspected 700mm bulk water pipe failure has caused major flooding at the Middelburg Care Village yet again.

The Middelburg Care Village and the surrounding area have once again been affected by flooding after a water pipeline burst, leaving the children’s home with extreme water damage.

According to information received, huge amounts of water are reportedly flowing from beneath the railway line on Aerorand’s side, causing flooding and water damage in and around the facility.

Videos received show extensive standing water, flooded grounds and damage to affected areas within the village, causing growing safety concerns.

The latest incident comes less than a month after a burst water pipe was reported near the Care Village, intensifying recurring water infrastructure problems in Middelburg.

The matter has reportedly been escalated to relevant municipal officials and stakeholders.
