WATCH: N12 close completely following crashes, explosions

Stay away - Multiple vehicle pile-up on N12 reported.

The local CPF has issued a chilling public warning for motorists to avoid the N12 towards Johannesburg.

The route is covered in mist, resulting in a multi-vehicle pileup.

According to information, a tanker caught fire after another truck rear-ended it following the initial accident.

Both vehicles are reprotedly in flames.

The N12 has now been closed completely from both directions.

A first responder on the scene confirmed in a video that multiple vehicles had crashed.

The video shows almost no visibility due to the thick blanket of mist.

Emergency responders are making their way to the scene and motorists are urged to yield for them.

Its unclear whether any fatalities have occurred.
