Tipper truck recovered in Rietkuil

A suspect remains at large following a stolen truck’s recovery, just outside Middelburg on July 21.

A truck used to deliver sand and stone that was apparently hijacked near Wonderfontein this morning (July 21) has been recovered in the Rietkuil area outside Middelburg.

According to information circulating on local community safety groups, the Mpumalanga-registered white UD tipper truck was hijacked at approximately 11:00 while travelling west towards Middelburg.

Locals have reported that security teams and members of the SAPS responded to initial alerts regarding the alleged hijacking, which led to the vehicle being located in Rietkuil.

One suspect has reportedly been identified, with officials continuing their search to locate and apprehend the individual and other suspects.

Residents with information regarding the incident are urged to contact the Middelburg SAPS or their nearest police station, but are warned not to attempt to stop or follow any suspects.
