The Mpumalanga Department of Education has sent structural engineers to Beestepan Agricultural School in Middelburg to inspect damage caused by severe winds yesterday (August 11).

According to Mpumalanga education spokesperson Gerald Sambo, engineers from the department’s infrastructure directorate are currently on site conducting a thorough assessment to check the safety and condition of the school grounds.

“Once the assessment is concluded, the engineers will compile a report outlining the impact of the damage and advising on the course of action to be taken to repair the school’s infrastructure,” said Sambo.

Despite the physical damage to parts of the facility, school management confirmed that daily classes and learning activities will carry on as scheduled.

“The department will continue to monitor the situation at the school and provide the necessary support where needed,” Sambo added.
