Former Steve Tshwete councillor joins DA
Uys breaks the ice and returns to Middelburg politics.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Middelburg has officially welcomed former Middelburg and Hendrina Residents Front (MHRF) councillor Ena Uys to the party today.
Uys was introduced as the DA candidate for Ward 10.
She brings over 15 years of local government experience, having served on the Steve Tshwete Council from 2001 to 2016 and again from 2021 to 2026.
Her past roles include serving on the mayoral committee for both corporate services and finance.
Explaining her decision to switch parties, Uys voiced her frustration with the current local government.
”It feels good to be back in the DA. I must say, residents of Steve Tshwete are tired of empty promises and they should no longer endure their suffering that the ANC has put them through.”
”The DA is a well organised party with functional structures. That on its own should inform residents that governing will not be a problem. I am looking forward to working under the DA banner and most importantly continue to deliver to the residents of this municipality.”
Mpumalanga DA leader Jane Sithole expressed full confidence in Uys.
The Da also unveiled an election bill board situated near Event City when enter Middelburg
