From three mountain passes to a race circuit, road cyclists can look forward to tackling them over the next few weeks.
The first road race to put participants to the test takes place on Sunday, September 27, in Dundee (KZN) with the Biggarsberg event, covering more than 100km.
Cyclists will set off from the Talana Museum, ride over three mountain passes, and finish back at the museum. Willing participants will need to act fast, though, as entries close today, September 25. With Ride Joburg on the horizon, every race counts.
Trap de Star
The Trap de Star 12-hour track challenge is an ideal occasion for the cyclist who is looking for unusual rides and to support The Teddy Bear Foundation for abused children at the same time.

- Times: From 18:00 on Saturday to 06:00 on Sunday, October 4
- Location: Red Star Raceway, Delmas
- Distance: 3.9km per lap
- Options and fees: Solo rider (R600), team of two riders (R1 100), team of four riders (R2 000)
- Duration: 12 hours
- Start: Mass start at 18:00 on Saturday
- Finish: Determined by total laps ridden and order of finish
Radsport 365 Ride For Cause 2026
The event takes place on October 24 at Rooiwal, Gauteng.
Enjoy a great day of cycling while supporting a worthy cause and helping Wollies Animal Shelter.
Riders and supporters are encouraged to donate dog or cat food, with every contribution making a meaningful difference to the shelter and the animals in its care.
With 92km, 52km and 26km routes to choose from, there is a distance for every level of cyclist.
Medals will be awarded as well as trophies for all podium finishers.
This is a seeding event for Ride Joburg.

In the Summertime Classic 2026
The race takes place on October 25 at the Ditsong Willem Prinsloo Agricultural Museum in Cullinan, Gauteng.
Embrace the summer on two wheels! Set against the unique backdrop of the Ditsong Willem Prinsloo Agricultural Museum, this new race brings together road cyclists, tandems, e-bikes and para athletes for a memorable day of road cycling, challenges and camaraderie. This is a seeding event for Ride Joburg.
Distances include 65km (R420) and 91km (R520).
Online entries close at midnight on October 19.
East Side Classic
The race takes place on November 1 at Carnival City in Brakpan, Gauteng.
This summer, the East Side Classic is making a return to Carnival City. The route is tailor-made for fast times on rolling hills – with three steep kickers to test cyclists’ stamina. The race caters for all levels of cyclists, from professionals and top-level veterans to weekend road warriors.

Radsport 365 Movember Ride 2026
The event takes place on November 14 at Rooiwal, Gauteng.
Get on your bike this Movember and ride for men’s health at the Radsport 365 Movember Ride. Enjoy a great day of cycling while helping to raise awareness of the importance of men’s health and well-being. This is a seeding event for Ride Joburg.
Distances: 92km, 52km and 26km routes to choose from.
Online entries close on November 13.
Ride Joburg Road Race
Hosted by the City of Johannesburg, the event takes place on Sunday, November 22.
Own the streets of Joburg as you power along the iconic M1 highway before returning to a spectacular finish at the legendary Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit.
Touching Hearts Cycling Event 2026
The event takes place on November 28 at Grootvlei Dutch Reformed Church in Rooiwal, Pretoria.
Wear some red and green and support this charity cycle event, which promises to be a fantastic day on the roads. There is also a free 500m dash for little ones, so everyone gets to cycle! Participants are encouraged to bring donations along with them to support people in need. Whether it is clothes you no longer wear, shoes that do not fit, bikes getting dusty in the garage, stationery or toys, your donation, no matter how small, can make a real difference.
Distances include 95km (R320), 50km (R270) and 26km (R220).
The race starts at 07:00, and online entries close on November 23.
