Groblersdal and Marble Hall: Severe thunderstorms expected
A level 2 warning from SAWS indicates the possibility of severe thunderstorms and possible hail in Groblersdal and Marble Hall.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a Warning Level 2 for severe thunderstorms expected in Groblersdal and Marble Hall, as well as the surrounding areas.
SAWS indicated the storms are expected between 10:00 and 21:59 today.
“Be aware that any combination of hail, strong winds and/or heavy downpours can accompany the storms,” the warning from SAWS stated.
SAWS warn that the impact may cause localised damage to infrastructure, settlements (informal), property, vehicles, livelihood, and livestock. Falling trees might also block minor roads. This includes localised flooding of susceptible roads, low-lying areas, and bridges.
Large amounts of smaller hail are also expected.
SAWS encourages the community to stay indoors and away from metal objects if possible and not to seek shelter under trees or tall objects, “Do not go fishing or play golf, as golf clubs and fishing rods are good conductors of electricity.”
