Accused robbery gang back in the dock

Five alleged robbers are set to appear in the Moutse Magistrate’s Court on November 27 for house robbery and possession of suspected stolen property.

A group of five alleged robbers, facing charges of house robbery and possession of suspected stolen property, will again appear in the Moutse Magistrate’s Court on November 27 for formal bail applications.

The suspects, Lerato Phahlane (28), Sello Simon Mashake (36), Dickson Dube (37), Calvin Mathalisa (23), and Tshepo Jabu Phahlane (27) were remanded to custody when they appeared before the court on November 19.

They allegedly broke into a house in Dennilton earlier this month, robbed a woman of her cellphone, and transferred money from the victim’s bank account before they fled the scene.

Limpopo Provincial Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said investigators arrested the accused and recovered the victim’s cellphone following their arrests in Siyabuswa, Marble Hall, Dennilton, and Matlerekeng on November 18.

SAPS Limpopo Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe lauded the investigating team for their swift and co-ordinated efforts that led to the arrest of the suspects.
