Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality has reason to celebrate following the achievement of an unqualified audit opinion for the seventh consecutive year in the 2024/2025 financial period from the Auditor-General of South Africa.

Thomas Mashabela, the municipal spokesperson, said the institution effectively sustained its audit outcome, thanks to the council’s collective leadership, administrative team, strengthened internal controls, and unwavering support from external stakeholders.

Mashabela indicated that the milestone signifies the municipality’s strong leadership, solid track record in financial reporting and public funds management, as well as its provision of services and upright governance system.

Mayor Merah Mahlase commended the political and administrative components, as well as stakeholders, for their contribution in steering the municipality in a positive direction.

She stated that the outcome reflects the municipality’s commitment to sound financial management, open governance, and service delivery in alignment with the approved IDP.

Mashabela concluded that the institution will review its audit action plan, continue to implement robust financial management, and comply with relevant financial policies and legislation to sustain or move towards the desired outcome of an unqualified or clean audit without findings.
