It’s back to Kyalami again

Ride Joburg moves to track where South Africa’s Jody Scheckter raced.

Ride Joburg returns to Kyalami.

The iconic racetrack where Jody Scheckter, Emerson Fittipaldi, Alain Prost, and Niki Lauda raced will host the popular 97km cycle race through the streets of Johannesburg.

The well-known Mpumalanga commissaire, Rudi van Wyk, said it is an excellent venue with ample parking and outstanding facilities. Cyclists have also responded positively to the route, which will be easier than the tough climb back to the finish line at the FNB Stadium in recent years.

The Ride Joburg road race, hosted by the City of Johannesburg, will take place on November 22, with the start and finish at Kyalami. Cyclists will power along the iconic M1 highway before returning to a spectacular finish at the legendary Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit.

Ride Joburg delivers a world-class race-day experience from start to finish.

The route includes iconic landmarks such as the M1 Highway, the Nelson Mandela Bridge, and the Kyalami Circuit.

Entry deadlines:

  • All seeded and substituted entries close on October 4.
  • Preliminary seeding will be communicated on October 8 and can be queried till October 21.
  • All road entries (unseeded) close on November 1.

In other cycling news, the popular Rooiwal cycle races will be held again on March 28, with Lenick Promotions’ Lenie Smit holding Easter Bunny races over 95km, 50km and 26km.
Registration is still open on Saturday.

Smit said, “We’re doing something different! Cycle with us and bring some Easter eggs for the underprivileged, the elderly, and children of our community, as well as the friendly marshals who keep our cyclists safe. Let’s have fun on our bikes and do some good!”

This is a seeding event for Ride Joburg and part of the Gauteng Road Championships for 2026.
