Tembisa Hospital’s youngest patients get toys
TEMBISA - Children admitted at Tembisa Hospital had a cheerful day when the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC), through its corporate social responsibility programme, donated soft toys to 100 little ones.
Chief executive officer at the corporation Advocate Makhosini Msibi said, “We decided to give children gifts to make their hospital stay comfortable and less stressful. The soft toys will assist the children with stimulation, reading, writing and colouring as part of their progressive recovery and learning process.”
He added that RTMC plays an important role in the economic and social transformation of its stakeholders and communities, and aims to facilitate sustainable corporate social responsibility programmes. “This is [the] first project of its kind that we intend to sustain. We are excited as a corporation to utilise this platform to invest our resources to contribute towards changing the lives of ordinary South Africans, which in most cases are the children who are classified as the most vulnerable”, said Msibi.
Hospital spokesperson Lesibana Ledwaba said the hospital appreciated the gesture. “Children admitted at the hospital for various illnesses… get bored and feel hopeless. Such gifts brighten their stay at the hospital,” he said.
Ruth Mthethwa, one of the parents of a little patient at the hospital said, “My baby Njabulo and other children at the hospital will love playing with their toys. Thanks to everyone who thought of brightening the children’s stay at the hospital.”
