Round Table Gauteng Area celebrations in Glen Austin

GLEN AUSTIN – The Round Table Gauteng Area announced their new executive members.

The Round Table Gauteng Area (RTGA) induction dinner held at Ambrosia Hall in Glen Austin kicked off on a light note with a jovial mood among the guests.

RTGA is a non-political, non-denominational association of young men between the ages of 18 and 40 who represent various professions and occupations. Their objectives include the encouragement of high ethical standards, the promotion of fellowship among young professional men, the quickening of individual interest in everything affecting public welfare and the promotion of understanding among people of different cultural backgrounds.

At the dinner on 1 April, RTGA bid farewell to some of their members who had reached 41 years of age, announced their new executive and chairman and discussed their charity work.

Although the club is strictly for young men, Graeme Newdigate toasted the ladies in their lives, “You [ladies] are the backbone of our organisation, without you we wouldn’t be able to go do the charitable work we do through this organisation.”

Last year, RTGA’s fundraising projects such as its Bed Race, Water Drive and White Christmas have generated funds to assist organisations such as Read to Rise, a South African literacy non-govermental organisation.

Outgoing chairman, Anthony McPhee said it was a pleasure to be able to give a positive report back at the end of his term. He also thanked the members of the organisation who helped him to serve RTGA.

Incoming chairman, Lee Allen said his focus, among member retention and transparency, for his term will be increasing membership.

“[We must remember] members can come from all sorts of places,” said Allen.
