ANC’s Hlongwa is ready to listen

MIDRAND – Vukile Hlongwa puts his foot forward for Ward 112 councilorship.

Ward 112 by-elections are steadily approaching and will be held on 24 July. The African National Congress (ANC) has chosen their candidate – Vukile Hlongwa.

He will be competing for Ward 112 councillorship against the Democratic Alliance’s (DA) Lerato Mphefo and Thabiso Telekoa of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).

Hlongwa, who has been exposed to politics and joined the ANC from a young age, has been residing in Midrand, Ward 112 for a decade now. In 2016 he was appointed ward committee member responsible for economic development.

He describes his willingness to serve as that which has kept him an active member of society, as well as a supporter of the progress and compliance of all local small and medium enterprises.

“I am also an activist for men’s health and one of three founders of the ‘Amadoda Investment Club’. I have a passion for empowering and protecting the mental, physical, and financial health of men because this allows us an attempt to keep good relations in the community and our households of Ward 112.

“I also work closely with the youth, a passion which led me to seek the protection of all early childhood development centres in the ward and to initiate a leadership development programme with the sole purpose of empowering and promoting skills development among youth.”

In terms of changes he would love to see throughout the community, Hlongwa said that as a trained negotiator and experienced mediator he wants to promote open-minded councilorship with readiness to listen and take the needs of the community in Ward 112 seriously.

“I want to ensure full implementation and to address crime, traffic congestion, housing, transport, security and health which are some of the most serious problems and also improved infrastructure in the ward.”
