Midrand police officers are thankful for donation of masks

MIDRAND – Constable Mabulane urges community members to adhere to the country’s Covid-19 regulations, referencing in particular the laws concerning liquor outlets.

Midrand police thanked Base Major Construction for their generous donation of face masks which would be used for prisoners at the station.

Spokesperson for the Midrand Police Station, Constable Tshwarelo Eliot Mabulane said, “As the Covid-19 case numbers increase and the country moves to Level 3, many lives have been lost due to the infection rate and lack of proper protective equipment.

“The lives of frontline workers are also at stake as they deal directly with the public in order to keep them safe from criminals and the increase of Covid-19.”

Station Commander Brigadier David Tsotsotso has appreciated the concern and generosity demonstrated by Stephen Lu of Base Major Construction who donated the face masks to the police.

“The masks are well received and will be utilised for prisoners who don’t have any masks,” said Mabulane.

He urged community members to adhere to the country’s Covid-19 regulations, referencing, in particular, the laws concerning liquor outlets.

He also warned residents to avoid drinking in public as this was prohibited.

“Any liquor outlets found to have violated the regulations will be dealt with in accordance with the law…Let’s keep safe, wash our hands, sanitise and wear face masks that cover our nose and mouth.”
