Midrand Juniors chess tournament draws 47 young players

Young minds went head-to-head as the Midrand Juniors Classical Chess Tournament delivered intense competition, close finishes, and a promising start to the club’s junior development calendar.

The Midrand Juniors Classical Chess Tournament, hosted by the Midrand Chess Club on January 31 at Halfway House Primary School, delivered thrilling competition and marked a strong kick-off to the club’s junior development calendar.

With 47 young players competing across development and junior sections, the tournament provided a high-quality, rated classical platform for emerging chess talent.

Midrand Chess Club coach Kgosimang Molefe praised the event’s strong participation, smooth organisation and intense battles over the board.

Molefe encouraged more players and sponsors to join the initiative, with the next tournament coming on February 28.
