South Africa Telugu Samithi donates furniture to Midrand Police Station

South Africa Telugu Samithi (SATS) has donated two tables and eight chairs to the Midrand Police Station, replacing damaged furniture and creating a more comfortable space for officers and members of the public.

In a gesture of community support, the South Africa Telugu Samithi (Sats) donated two tables and eight chairs to the Midrand Police Station on January 29.

The donation aims to replace old, damaged furniture and create a more comfortable, dignified space for officers and members of the public. They will be used by community members visiting the station for attestations, reporting incidents, and other administrative services, helping the station provide a more welcoming environment.

Sats is a non-profit organisation dedicated to uniting the Telugu-speaking community in South Africa, while promoting Telugu culture, heritage, and language through social, cultural, and charitable activities. The organisation’s chairperson, Vikram Kumar Petluru, said the donation was motivated by the condition of the station’s existing furniture.

“We felt compelled to contribute and help improve the environment for both the public and the officers. Giving back to the community is a core value of Sats.

We strongly believe in supporting our local community through various charity and upliftment initiatives, and this donation forms part of our ongoing commitment to making a positive impact.”

Petluru added that the organisation believes meaningful community support cannot rely solely on government processes. “By contributing within our capacities, businesses can help bridge existing gaps and enable SAPS to serve the community in a more effective and efficient manner.”

Sats is actively involved in various community initiatives, including supporting old age homes, orphanages, and families affected by natural disasters. The organisation also organises cultural programmes to promote local talent and encourage community participation.

Through initiatives like this, Petluru said Sats hopes to inspire other organisations and community members to contribute to local law enforcement and broader community development.
