Inseta promotes collaborative skills development at inaugural insurance skills in Indaba
Inseta is a Sector Education and Training Authority established in terms of the Skills Development Act. It facilitates skills development in the insurance sector.
The Insurance Sector Education and Training Authority (Inseta) held its inaugural Insurance Skills Indaba at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand on March 19 and 20.
Under the theme, A Responsive Disruption Through Skills Innovation, the indaba brought together leaders from different industries, policymakers, government officials, and professionals to establish collaboration, networking, and the sharing of best practices.
Inseta CEO Gugu Mkhize said, “We pride ourselves on collaborating with multiple stakeholders to facilitate skills development and, crucially, to ensure that the people being trained are ready for the world of work.” She also noted the presence of 40 exhibitors who were key partners in driving meaningful discussions on upskilling young South Africans.

The Premier of Gauteng Panyaza Lesufi, emphasised the government’s commitment to collaborating with Inseta to develop skills that will boost the economy and provide opportunities for young people. “We registered 650 000 unemployed youth that needed to be re-skilled last year, and we are proud with the partners that we have. We are ready to take those to be re-skilled so that they can be relevant to the economy,” said Lesufi.
The CEO of QP Drone Tech, a panelist at the conference, discussed her company’s work in training unemployed youth in drone operation and AI technology for disaster risk management and response efforts. Ndlovu acknowledged the initial skepticism towards the groundbreaking technology and showed the importance of developing these skills for the future.
